Associate Drug Control & Crime Prevention Officer (Temporary)

About the role

The Associate Drug Control and Crime Prevention Officer will be based in the Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Region in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, the incumbent will support UNODC’s drug control and crime prevention programmes across the GCC and the wider Africa and Middle East region.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Programme Coordinator in planning, implementing and monitoring drug control and crime prevention projects.
• Coordinate with regional project teams, the UNODC Secretariat and other UN bodies to ensure alignment with the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
• Prepare briefing notes, reports and analytical documents for senior UNODC officials and governing bodies.
• Support the organization of workshops, trainings and stakeholder meetings.
• Contribute to thematic initiatives and provide input on policy development.

Required profile

• University degree in law, criminology, public policy, international relations or a related field.
• Relevant experience in drug control, crime prevention or related UN programmes.
• Familiarity with UN processes and reporting mechanisms.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
