Consultant ICU / Critical Care Medicine Specialist – Sharjah

About the role

We are looking for a highly qualified Consultant in ICU / Critical Care Medicine to join a leading tertiary care hospital in Sharjah. The successful candidate will deliver expert, evidence‑based care to critically ill adult patients, working within a multidisciplinary team and supporting emergency and rapid response services.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage critically ill adult patients in the ICU.
• Provide advanced life support, including intubation, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy and ventilator management.
• Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and coordinate patient management plans.
• Collaborate with emergency medicine, anesthesiology, surgery, pulmonology, cardiology and other specialties.
• Supervise junior physicians, residents and ICU staff.
• Ensure compliance with ICU protocols, infection control and patient safety standards.
• Participate in rapid response teams, code‑blue management and hospital emergency preparedness.
• Maintain accurate documentation in line with MOH UAE regulations.
• Contribute to research, quality improvement, audits and CME activities.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by MOH UAE.
• Board certification / fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Anesthesia Critical Care or Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine.
• Valid MOH UAE Consultant License or eligibility letter.
• 5–7 years post‑board ICU experience in a tertiary care setting.
• ACLS certification (preferred).
• Strong communication, leadership and decision‑making abilities.
