Consultant Pediatric Emergency Physician

About the role

A leading tertiary‑care hospital in the UAE is seeking an experienced Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to join its busy Pediatric Emergency Department. The role involves delivering high‑quality emergency care to infants, children and adolescents while providing clinical leadership and supporting education and research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive emergency assessment and management of acute medical, surgical and trauma cases in children.
• Lead pediatric resuscitation, including advanced airway management, vascular access and life‑saving interventions.
• Carry out emergency procedures such as lumbar puncture, fracture reduction and splinting, wound repair and procedural sedation.
• Coordinate care with subspecialists, surgeons, intensivists and other emergency physicians to ensure safe patient flow.
• Develop clinical pathways, quality‑improvement initiatives and participate in morbidity‑mortality reviews.
• Mentor junior doctors, residents and nursing staff.
• Communicate diagnoses and treatment plans compassionately to families and support them during critical decisions.
• Participate in teaching, clinical research and represent the department at conferences.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD/MBBS) from a recognized institution.
• Board certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics with PEM fellowship, or Emergency Medicine with pediatric specialization.
• 8–10 years post‑specialisation experience, including consultant‑level practice.
• Strong clinical expertise in pediatric resuscitation, trauma and acute care.
• Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork abilities.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
