Maternal & Fetal Medicine Consultant

About the role

The Maternal & Fetal Medicine Consultant provides senior, evidence‑based care to pregnant patients, overseeing both inpatient and outpatient services in a leading Abu Dhabi hospital. The role combines clinical excellence with leadership in training, governance and quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based maternal and fetal care.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret investigations, prescribe treatments and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, including specialists, general practitioners and residents.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and collaborate with other specialties to ensure holistic patient management.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Document clinical information accurately and comply with hospital, departmental and Department of Health regulations.
• Engage in clinical audits, peer review and risk‑management activities to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent from a recognized medical school.
• Successful completion of a structured specialty training program (Board Certification, Royal College Fellowship or equivalent DOH‑approved qualification).
• Post‑specialty clinical experience of 3–7 years in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Valid DOH licensing or eligibility to practice in the UAE.
