Safety Assurance Specialist

About the role

The Safety Assurance Specialist will support the implementation and maintenance of safety management systems for the UAE rail network, ensuring compliance with local railway regulations and the operational safety case. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of railway safety standards, risk assessments, and assurance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing rail safety management systems in line with local and international standards.
• Ensure compliance with the operational safety case, including management of operational limitations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and verify regulatory compliance.
• Support investigations of safety incidents, near‑misses, and accidents, identifying root causes and recommending preventive actions.
• Collaborate with construction, maintenance, and train service teams to embed safety measures across all rail operations.
• Update the hazard log and maintain risk registers, ensuring all identified risks are documented and managed.
• Participate in the design and delivery of safety training programs to promote a strong safety culture.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to ensure adherence to local laws and the safety case.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incident investigations, hazard logs, and risk registers.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Risk or a related field.
• Professional certification in risk management techniques.
• Full driving licence.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in safety or risk roles, preferably within rail or other high‑hazard industries.
• Experience updating hazard logs and maintaining risk registers.
• Knowledge of UAE and international railway safety regulations and standards.
• Proven ability to write reports, processes and procedures.
