Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Etihad Airways is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its cross‑functional product teams. You will design, implement, and support modern data platforms built on Databricks, ensuring the platform is reliable, scalable, and ready for advanced analytics and data science.

Key responsibilities

• Treat the data platform as a core product, driving scalability, reliability and continuous innovation.
• Collaborate with Architecture to shape the Databricks‑based roadmap and integrate services such as Delta Lake, Unity Catalog and Delta Live Tables.
• Document Databricks workflows, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Partner with stakeholders to resolve platform issues and identify improvement opportunities.
• Automate data ingestion with Autoloader, optimise streaming via Structured Streaming and enforce data quality using DQX.
• Implement Agile and DevOps practices, maintaining production‑ready CI/CD pipelines and Terraform‑managed infrastructure.
• Provide operational support for Databricks clusters, jobs and pipelines, including incident analysis and business impact reporting.
• Promote best practices for DataOps and cloud‑native data engineering across the organisation.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience as a Data/Platform Engineer with proven expertise in Databricks and lakehouse architectures.
• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related quantitative field.
• Strong problem‑solving skills across distributed data systems and experience working in Linux environments.
• Excellent communication abilities and experience collaborating in Agile, cross‑functional teams.
