Specialist Pharmacist

About the role

The Specialist Pharmacist provides advanced clinical pharmacy services within a focused therapeutic area such as oncology, cardiology or critical care. Working in hospitals or specialty clinics, the pharmacist ensures optimal medication therapy, patient safety, and seamless collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate prescriptions for accuracy, safety and appropriateness.
• Offer specialised pharmacotherapy recommendations based on patient condition and latest evidence.
• Monitor patient response, adjust therapy plans and manage complex cases (ICU, oncology, infectious diseases).
• Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Ensure safe dispensing, administration and documentation of medications.
• Detect and manage drug interactions, contraindications and adverse effects.
• Implement antimicrobial stewardship or other specialty‑specific programmes.
• Maintain compliance with DOH regulations, hospital policies and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• BPharm, MPharm or PharmD degree.
• Post‑graduate qualification or residency in a relevant specialty (preferred).
• 3–5 years of clinical pharmacy experience.
• Strong knowledge of evidence‑based medicine and hospital pharmacy practice.
