Special Education Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our International School in Abu Dhabi, starting August 2026. The role focuses on planning and delivering differentiated lessons and interventions that meet the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals of students with special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and support learners with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other SEN profiles.
• Utilise evidence‑based strategies, assistive technology and adaptive resources to create an inclusive classroom.
• Assess and monitor progress through individualized targets, observations and specialised assessments, providing feedback to students, parents and staff.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and multidisciplinary teams to implement holistic support plans.
• Develop, review and update IEPs in partnership with parents, caregivers and the school’s SENCO.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records of student progress and interventions.
• Participate in professional development, team meetings and parent‑teacher conferences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Psychology or related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., Teaching License) with additional SEN certification or training.
• Minimum two years teaching experience in an SEN setting; international experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of SEN strategies, IEP development and assistive technologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
