Associate Drug Control and Crime Prevention Officer (Temporary)

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking a temporary Associate Officer to support drug control and crime‑prevention initiatives in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Based in Abu Dhabi, the incumbent will work under the Programme Coordinator and the UNODC Representative for the GCC.

Key responsibilities

• Provide substantive, technical and administrative support for the development, implementation and monitoring of thematic initiatives linked to the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
• Draft, review and coordinate concept notes, reports, budgets and other documentation, ensuring timely submission and follow‑up.
• Conduct basic research and analysis on legal, social and statistical aspects of drug control, crime, corruption and terrorism prevention in the GCC and beyond.
• Liaise with UNODC headquarters, field offices and external stakeholders, fostering strategic partnerships with government officials and other partners.

Required profile

• Experience working in an international or multilateral environment, preferably on drug control or crime‑prevention programmes.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple partners and produce high‑quality written products.
