Associate Drug Control & Crime Prevention Officer (Temporary)

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking an Associate Officer to support drug control and crime prevention activities in the Gulf Cooperation Council Region. The position is based in Abu Dhabi and reports directly to the Programme Coordinator for Drug Control and Crime Prevention, under the overall guidance of the UNODC Representative for the GCC Region.

Key responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Drug Control and Crime Prevention).
• Collaborate closely with project teams in the Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council Region (OGCCR) and with the UNODC Secretariat.
• Support the UNODC Representative for the GCC Region and contribute to thematic initiatives linked to the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
• Liaise with the Division for Operations, Division for Treaty Affairs, and other headquarters‑based branches as required.
• Provide input to the Secretariat of the Governing Bodies (SGB) and assist in the preparation of reports for the 15th United Nations Congress.
• Coordinate with headquarters‑based sections involved in special thematic initiatives related to drug control and crime prevention.

Required profile

• Based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
• Ability to work in a multinational UN environment and communicate effectively in English.
