Back End Developer

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Back End Developer to join Kayana’s fast‑growing team. You will work on Java‑based applications that power our point‑of‑sale and self‑service kiosk solutions for clients across the UK, US and other markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java applications using Spring Framework, Spring Boot and micro‑services architecture.
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs to integrate with internal and external systems.
• Work with AWS cloud services to improve performance, scalability and reliability.
• Use MySQL and PostgreSQL for data storage and retrieval.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments and routine maintenance tasks.
• Set up and manage message queues with RabbitMQ for asynchronous communication.
• Participate in code reviews and apply DevOps best practices.
• Apply multithreading and functional programming techniques to optimise code.
• Conduct testing of APIs and mobile‑related components to ensure quality.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of professional experience as a back‑end engineer.
• Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• Experience building and deploying applications on AWS.
• Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Ability to work on‑site full‑time, Monday to Saturday.
