Director of Tax

About the role

TensorWave is seeking a Director of Tax to lead the strategic oversight of its global tax footprint. This senior leadership position will shape tax policy, coordinate cross‑functional tax experts, and advise executive leadership on high‑impact initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the central hub for all tax Subject Matter Experts, aligning Income, Sales & Use, Property, Real Estate, and R&D tax credit functions.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive tax strategy focused on disciplined growth, risk mitigation, and effective tax rate optimization.
• Advise the CFO and senior leadership on tax implications of M&A, international expansion, and capital structure changes.
• Partner with legal and finance teams to structure complex transactions for maximum tax efficiency.
• Oversee real‑estate tax liabilities, assessments, and appeals across the property portfolio.
• Identify and manage R&D tax credits and other incentive programs, handling documentation and filing.
• Establish a robust tax governance framework ensuring compliance with SOX, GAAP, and local statutes.
• Lead audit defense efforts, coordinating information flow between the company, external auditors, and tax authorities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives leveraging technology and automation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in corporate tax leadership, preferably in a high‑growth technology environment.
• Proven ability to influence C‑suite executives and manage large, cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a track record of optimizing tax positions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of Income Tax, Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax, Real Estate Tax, and R&D Tax Credits.
• Familiarity with SOX, GAAP, and international tax compliance standards.
• Experience managing tax audits and coordinating with tax authorities.
