2nd Watchkeeping Electrical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a 2nd Watchkeeping Electrical Engineer to support the Chief Electrical Engineer on a Cutter Suction Dredger. The role ensures reliable power generation, distribution and control systems for safe, uninterrupted dredging operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining all electrical systems on the dredger, including power generation, distribution and control.
• Perform watch‑keeping duties, monitoring equipment to guarantee safe dredging.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in motors, drives, PLC systems, control panels and instrumentation.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance and testing of generators, switchboards and protection systems.
• Coordinate with mechanical and dredging teams to minimise downtime and optimise efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• STCW certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with marine electrical equipment.
