3rd W/K Engineer for Dredger

About the role

The 3rd W/K Engineer will support the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer in the safe and efficient operation of all machinery aboard a dredger. This position involves engine‑room watch‑keeping, monitoring of main engines, generators and auxiliary equipment, and assisting with dredging‑related systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engine‑room watch‑keeping duties and monitor main engines, generators and auxiliary machinery.
• Operate and maintain pumps, compressors, purifiers, boilers and dredge‑related equipment such as hydraulic systems, winches and cutter/spud/ladder systems.
• Carry out routine inspections, lubrication, cleaning and preventive maintenance according to the PMS schedule.
• Monitor machinery parameters, report abnormalities and assist in troubleshooting, repairs and overhauls.
• Maintain accurate engine‑room logs, checklists, maintenance records and defect reports.
• Support dry‑docking, repairs, surveys and emergency drills while ensuring compliance with ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL and company HSE requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in marine or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on marine vessels, preferably on a dredger.

Required skills

• Engine‑room watch‑keeping and monitoring of main engines and auxiliary systems.
• Operation and maintenance of pumps, compressors, purifiers, boilers and dredge‑pump/hydraulic systems.
• Preventive maintenance (PMS) procedures, inspections and lubrication.
• Troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of engines and auxiliary machinery.
