About the role

The Academic Advising Center at American University in Dubai seeks an Academic Advisor to support undergraduate students. You will provide expert guidance on course selection, program pathways, and academic challenges, helping students progress toward timely graduation.

Key responsibilities

• Offer program‑specific advising during registration periods, semesters, and summer terms.
• Assist students in planning study paths that align with degree requirements and personal goals.
• Guide undecided students and those considering program or concentration changes.
• Advise on course loads, withdrawals, and other academic issues, especially for students facing difficulties.
• Maintain a reduced teaching load of two courses each fall and spring semester and one course in a summer term.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or doctoral) from a Western‑accredited university in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business, Engineering, IT, Interior Design, Visual Communication, MFA).
• Strong understanding of program structures and curricula in the appointed discipline.
• Prior training and significant experience in academic advising within a Western higher‑education system.
• Teaching experience with high effectiveness ratings.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to student success and ability to work with a culturally diverse student body.
• Team‑oriented attitude for collaboration with advisors, faculty, and staff.
