Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer II

About the role

We are seeking an Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer II to tackle complex metal 3D‑printing challenges within our POWERTECH centre of excellence. The role involves developing, qualifying and producing advanced LPBF components for aerospace and defence applications.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and production of advanced laser powder‑bed fusion (LPBF) metal parts.
• Drive Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) initiatives to enhance performance, manufacturability and part consolidation.
• Define build strategies, including part orientation, support structures, segmentation and process parameters.
• Diagnose and resolve manufacturing issues such as distortion, residual stress, cracking, recoater interaction and process instability.
• Collaborate with design owners and cross‑functional teams to mature components from concept through to production.
• Develop scalable AM workflows, standards and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Materials Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with metal additive manufacturing, especially LPBF.
• Deep understanding of DfAM principles and AM process physics.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks or Creo.
