AFC Technician – Automatic Fare Collection & CCTV Maintenance

About the role

The AFC Technician will support the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) and CCTV systems for the Dubai Metro. Working on‑site, you will ensure that gates, ticket machines and related equipment operate reliably and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the AFC Team Leader with preventive and corrective maintenance of AFC hardware, including automatic gates, ticket vending machines, ticket office machines and central control units.
• Install, service and re‑configure AFC and CCTV equipment in stations, depots and car parks.
• Diagnose faults using hand, machine, electrical and electronic tools, technical drawings and schematics.
• Replace defective components and coordinate repairs with the electronics workshop.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Support the implementation of complex system upgrades or new projects.
• Ensure tools and equipment are in good condition before and after each job.
• Perform shift and emergency duties as required.

Required profile

• Vocational trade certificate, diploma or degree in electronics, computer science, IT, electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Preferably 1 year of experience as an electrical, mechanical, electro‑mechanical or electronics technician maintaining AFC systems.
• Valid UAE driving licence with good driving skills.
• Strong organisational abilities, attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

Required skills

• Use of electronic test equipment.
• Operation of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Interpretation of technical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Proficiency with PC‑based maintenance tools.
