Agriculture Assistant

About the role

The Agriculture Assistant supports daily farm operations, helping to cultivate, irrigate, and harvest crops while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Working closely with supervisors and field staff, the assistant contributes to healthy plant growth and sustainable farming practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in land preparation, planting, transplanting, and harvesting activities.
• Support irrigation operations and monitor water distribution across farm areas.
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides under supervision, following safety standards.
• Monitor crop health, report pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
• Perform routine crop maintenance such as weeding, pruning, thinning, and mulching.
• Operate and maintain basic agricultural tools and equipment safely.
• Help with greenhouse, nursery, and field operations as needed.
• Collect agricultural data on planting dates, growth, yields, and weather.
• Support inventory management of seeds, fertilizers, and tools.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and storage facilities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; agricultural training or a certificate/diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field is preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in farming, crop production, greenhouse operations, or agricultural fieldwork.
• Experience with irrigation systems and basic farm equipment is an advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of irrigation systems.
• Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment safely.
