About the role
The Composite Shop at flydubai is looking for an Aircraft Mechanic A to carry out, inspect, review and certify both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on composite components and structures. The role ensures compliance with GCAA CAR Part V, CAR‑145, EASA Part‑145, the company Maintenance Organisation Exposition and all relevant technical data, while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform, inspect, review and certify composite maintenance activities in line with approved technical data and company authorisations.
- Assess composite parts for defects such as delamination, impact damage, core damage, moisture ingress and dimensional deviation.
- Apply approved repair schemes – scarf, stepped, bonded repairs, core replacement, laminate restoration and surface finishing.
- Execute or verify preparation and repair processes including cutting, sanding, lay‑up, resin mixing, adhesive application, vacuum bagging, bonding, curing, trimming, drilling and finishing.
- Monitor and record process parameters (temperature, pressure, vacuum level, curing time, humidity, resin ratio, material orientation).
- Ensure correct identification, storage, traceability and shelf‑life management of composite materials and consumables.
- Maintain environmental and contamination controls and verify that equipment (ovens, autoclaves, hot bonders, vacuum systems, measuring devices) is serviceable, calibrated and certified before use.
Required profile
- Knowledge of GCAA CAR Part V, CAR‑145 and EASA Part‑145 regulations and the company MOE.
- Ability to read and interpret structural repair manuals, component maintenance manuals and engineering instructions.
- Experience in assessing composite defects and selecting appropriate repair methods.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
Required skills
- Composite repair techniques (scarf, stepped, bonded, core replacement).
- Vacuum bagging and autoclave operation.
- Resin mixing and adhesive application.
- Cutting, sanding, lay‑up, trimming and drilling of composite materials.
- Process parameter monitoring (temperature, pressure, vacuum, curing time, humidity).
- Material identification and traceability for prepregs, resins, adhesives, fibres, fabrics and cores.
- Use of calibrated measuring devices and inspection equipment.
