API Integration Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced API Integration Engineer to join a leading insurance group in the Middle East. The role will involve designing, developing, securing, and managing the full lifecycle of APIs across multiple insurance business lines and digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and document REST and SOAP APIs for health, property & casualty, corporate, regulatory and digital channels.
• Manage API lifecycle from non‑production to production and disaster‑recovery environments.
• Collaborate with team lead to plan deliveries, estimate tasks and ensure code reusability.
• Implement API security and governance using API gateway solutions.
• Maintain platform components (Jenkins, Nexus, AWS, CodeCommit, Kibana, Grafana) and automate deployments.
• Provide production support, monitoring, incident handling and occasional out‑of‑hours deployments.
• Train junior team members and document integration processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in API development, REST and SOAP services.
• Strong knowledge of API security, management and gateway products (WSO2, Apigee, Axway, IBM API Connect).
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services and containerised environments.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and follow architecture and security best practices.
