Assistant Engineer - CAD Drafting

About the role

A client based in Dubai, one of the largest companies in the region, is hiring an Assistant Engineer - CAD on a 12-month contract, renewable based on performance. The role prepares, maintains and updates multi-disciplinary fit-out design drawings to support tendering and construction execution. It involves producing accurate CAD drawings from architectural and engineering designs, in line with company standards and engineering regulations, and working closely with architects, engineers and project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, update and maintain architectural, civil and MEP fit-out drawings using AutoCAD.
• Interpret architectural and engineering sketches, technical notes and specifications into accurate construction drawings.
• Ensure CAD drawings comply with company standards, including layering, numbering, formatting and documentation.
• Support tender documentation and contractor execution with accurate, timely drawings.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants and contractors on design revisions.
• Review drawings for accuracy and completeness before submission, and maintain revision records.
• Assist with site drawing modifications and as-built documentation.
• Help develop 3D models with SketchUp, Revit or similar software when applicable.
• Ensure compliance with UAE and international standards such as UBC, ASHRAE and NFPA.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering Design Drafting or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of CAD drafting experience in architectural, civil and MEP projects.
• Strong knowledge of architectural, civil and MEP engineering principles.
• Good understanding of local and international engineering standards.
• Availability immediately after accepting the offer; willing to work in the UAE.

Required skills

• AutoCAD proficiency is mandatory; AutoCAD certification or equivalent qualification.
• Working knowledge of SketchUp, Revit or other 3D modelling software is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
