Assistant Manager – Public Sector GRC

About the role

The Assistant Manager will support KPMG's public sector practice by leading governance, risk and compliance (GRC) engagements for government‑related entities. This role combines client delivery, advisory, and team development to help public organisations improve transparency, accountability and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver GRC and internal audit projects for public sector and government clients, overseeing planning, fieldwork, quality reviews and reporting.
• Design and assess governance frameworks, policies and operating models, supporting enterprise risk management initiatives such as risk registers and risk appetite statements.
• Conduct internal control reviews and advise on compliance with UAE/GCC regulations, international standards (e.g., COSO, ADAA, IIA) and ISO certifications.
• Supervise and coach junior team members, ensuring high‑quality deliverables and managing workload across engagements.
• Contribute to business development by drafting proposals, methodologies and pricing inputs, and identifying growth opportunities within public sector accounts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management or a related field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
• Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, CPA, ACCA or equivalent are preferred.
• Six to eight years of experience in GRC, risk advisory, internal audit or consulting, preferably with public sector or government clients.
• Experience in a professional services environment, especially Big‑4 or advisory firms, is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of governance, risk management and compliance frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO 31000, ISO 22301, ISO 27001).
• Knowledge of UAE and GCC government regulations and public‑sector transformation initiatives.
• Ability to prepare and review high‑quality reports, presentations and executive summaries.
