Assistant Nurse

About the role

The Assistant Nurse will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife to deliver safe, patient‑centred care in a hospital setting. This role supports daily living activities, monitors patient status, and contributes to the overall care plan while upholding the NMC Nursing Strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and meal distribution.
• Observe and record vital signs, reporting any changes promptly to the supervising RN/Midwife.
• Provide direct patient care according to the therapeutic plan and document all interventions.
• Support post‑discharge follow‑up by scheduling clinic visits, tests, and transportation.
• Respond to emergencies following hospital policies and perform Basic Life Support when required.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper flow of documentation for scanning.
• Act as a patient advocate, promoting dignity and rights at all times.
• Escalate complex cases to senior staff and seek clarification when needed.

Required profile

• Valid license to work as an Assistant Nurse or Assistant Midwife issued by the relevant health authority.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to evidence‑based nursing practice.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in patient vital sign monitoring and documentation.
