Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering

About the role

Heriot-Watt University Dubai is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering (Grade G7, FTE, open-ended contract) for its School of Engineering and Physical Sciences. The postholder teaches and assesses undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses such as Electrical Power Systems, Electronics, Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Automation and Digital Transformation, and contributes to research and student recruitment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and assess engineering programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and develop course materials and curriculum content
• Review teaching design and delivery using student and peer feedback
• Mentor and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects, and provide pastoral support
• Develop research with industry and research organisations, and link with colleagues in Edinburgh and Malaysia
• Build links with business, industry and the education sector, and promote the university in recruitment events
• Take part in programme planning, examination and progression boards, committees and staff development

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
• 2-3 years of teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
• Research track record
• Desirable: fellowship or senior fellowship of Advance HE, Chartered Engineer status, experience supervising BEng and PG projects and a PhD student, and journal publications and grant applications
• Degree attestation from a UAE-accredited institution or Ministry of Education equivalency, and completion of labour and immigration formalities
