Assistant Resident Engineer Civil – Cables 132 kV and Above

About the role

The Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil will lead the execution of underground high‑voltage cable infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. Acting as the on‑site representative, you will coordinate contractors, consultants and stakeholders to deliver civil works that meet design, quality, health, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise trenching, duct banks, cable laying, joint bays and related civil works.
• Ensure works follow approved drawings, specifications and project standards.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress, QA/QC and HSE compliance.
• Review and approve method statements, shop drawings and material submittals.
• Conduct regular site inspections and enforce quality procedures.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical and utility teams for seamless integration.
• Manage project schedules, track progress and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain detailed site documentation, reports and records.
• Lead site meetings, progress reviews and communicate risks and mitigation plans.
• Support testing, commissioning and final hand‑over of cable infrastructure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure or utility projects, especially underground cable works.
• Proven experience managing high‑voltage cable or utility infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, QA/QC practices and HSE regulations.
• Familiarity with international standards and GCC/UAE regulations is desirable.
• Demonstrated leadership, team management and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to work on‑site and travel within the region as required.
