Assistant Resident Engineer – Mechanical Substation (132 kV+)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer to support the Resident Engineer in supervising mechanical works for high‑voltage substation projects (132 kV and above) in Abu Dhabi. The role involves ensuring that construction activities meet design specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer in overseeing mechanical works for 132 kV, 220 kV, 400 kV and higher voltage substations.
• Monitor daily construction activities, verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications and contract requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, prepare inspection reports and track progress against the project schedule.
• Validate contractor resources, manpower, equipment and construction methodologies.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, protection, SCADA and commissioning teams to ensure integrated delivery.
• Support testing and commissioning activities for substations.

Required profile

• 8–12 years of experience in mechanical engineering and construction supervision.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on 132 kV or higher voltage substation projects.
• Experience with consultancy or site‑supervision organisations, preferably within the UAE/GCC utility sector.
• Previous involvement in testing and commissioning of substations is an advantage.
• Familiarity with roads, bridges, highways or related infrastructure projects is preferred.
