Associate Director – Development Planning & Urban Design

About the role

Join WSP’s Development, Planning & Urban Design practice in the Middle East as an Associate Director, shaping major urban transformation projects while driving business growth and client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Director in implementing the strategic vision and business plan for the Development, Planning & Urban Design practice across the Middle East.
• Lead business development activities, including major bids, proposals and pipeline building for planning, master‑planning and urban design projects.
• Act as Project Director on large‑scale development and urban transformation commissions, overseeing scope, programme, quality, risk and commercial performance.
• Develop and manage relationships with strategic government, semi‑government and private sector clients, representing WSP in executive meetings and industry forums.
• Provide line management and mentorship to senior team members, driving capability building and an inclusive culture.
• Monitor financial performance, support contract negotiations and ensure projects meet revenue, margin and utilisation targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Typically 12+ years of experience in urban planning, design and large‑scale development, preferably within the Middle East.
• Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams, senior client relationships and commercial outcomes.
• Experience working in a major consultancy or comparable professional‑services environment.
