Back-End Engineer – Geospatial Platforms

About the role

FADA is looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate the server‑side foundation of a next‑generation geospatial platform. You will deliver reliable, scalable, and secure backend services that power applications, integrations, and mission‑critical workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and microservices using Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Design, build, and support REST and GraphQL APIs with strong documentation, versioning, and security practices.
• Design and optimise relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch) databases.
• Build cloud‑native applications using containers, Kubernetes, event‑driven architectures, and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS).
• Implement authentication, authorization, and secure access controls.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and monitoring solutions.
• Integrate third‑party systems, APIs, and data feeds while ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with front‑end developers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing production backend applications and services.
• Strong expertise in Python and modern web frameworks.
• Experience designing and developing REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Proven knowledge of database design and optimisation for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
