Backend Engineer

About the role

You will own the backend for Humai’s two AI‑driven products, shaping services, APIs, data pipelines, jobs and integrations as the company scales. The role is hands‑on and strategic, giving you authority to redesign architecture, set standards and work directly with the founder and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deliver backend services from architecture to production.
• Write and champion the next‑stage architecture plan, secure agreement and ship it.
• Define engineering standards including code review, testing, CI/CD, rollbacks, monitoring, tracing and incident response.
• Develop and harden integration surfaces such as MCP, Salesforce and messaging connectors.
• Embed security and audit controls (authentication, tenancy, audit trails, data residency, secret management) to maintain SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 compliance.
• Operate LLM pipelines in production with async job orchestration, provider fail‑over and cost‑control mechanisms.
• Mentor and raise the technical level of engineers and contractors through reviews and example.

Required profile

• Senior‑level backend engineer with a track record of building reliable, scalable services.
• Strong architectural mindset and ability to influence system design.
• Experience working in regulated environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001) is a plus.
• Comfortable working onsite in Dubai and collaborating directly with founders and customers.
