Biomedical Engineer

About the role

The Biomedical Engineer will support the hospital’s medical equipment lifecycle, from acquisition to daily operation. You will ensure that all biomedical devices meet safety, performance and regulatory standards while providing technical support to clinical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide domain expertise during the pre‑purchase evaluation of new biomedical equipment.
• Inspect, inventory and label incoming devices before they are placed into service.
• Deliver training and technical assistance to staff on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Perform systematic preventive maintenance and immediate fault rectification on all hospital equipment.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date inventory database and prepare requisitions for spare parts.
• Analyse equipment failures using test instruments, schematics and technical literature.
• Coordinate contractor activities for calibration, installation and verification, and review service documentation.
• Conduct safety and risk assessments with the Facilities Management Services (FMS) team and implement corrective measures.
• Manage vendor relationships, especially for PCB repair and major component replacement.
• Contribute to the development of departmental manuals, policies and quality initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience maintaining and servicing biomedical equipment in a hospital environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and OSH regulations.
• Ability to document work accurately and communicate effectively with clinical and technical teams.
