Cargo Planning and Scheduling Controller

About the role

The Cargo Planning and Scheduling Controller is responsible for planning, coordinating and optimising freighter operations across a global cargo network. This senior position ensures maximum schedule reliability, aircraft utilisation, payload efficiency and commercial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain short‑ and medium‑term freighter operating schedules, aligning with commercial and network priorities.
• Build and optimise aircraft rotations while considering maintenance, block hours, airport restrictions, slots and permits.
• Conduct 24/48/72‑hour forward planning to identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Develop recovery options for AOG, maintenance overruns, crew constraints, weather and regulatory disruptions.
• Assess aircraft swaps, flight retimings, cancellations, consolidations and alternative routing to preserve schedule integrity.
• Maintain oversight of slot and permit readiness and intervene in high‑risk cases.
• Validate significant schedule and system changes executed by reportees and implement them in AirVision, ENCOM and CORE.
• Act as the scheduling focal point with Commercial, Network Control Centre, Engineering, Crew, Flight Operations, Regulatory and Stations.
• Monitor aircraft utilisation, block hours and schedule productivity, recommending efficiency improvements.
• Lead, coach and develop reportees, building their scheduling capability and decision‑making skills.
• Escalate strategic network decisions to Senior Scheduling Management when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in air cargo or freighter operations scheduling.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Leadership skills to coach and develop a scheduling team.
• Ability to make high‑impact operational decisions under pressure.
