Carpenter

About the role

We are looking for an experienced carpenter to join the engineering & maintenance team at Sofitel Dubai The Palm, a 5‑star beachfront resort. The role involves repairing, restoring and fabricating woodwork throughout guest rooms, villas and public areas while maintaining the high standards of a luxury hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, adjust and maintain doors, frames, locks, wardrobes, drawers, headboards, vanities and built‑in furniture.
• Restore and refinish wooden furniture and surfaces using sanding, filling, staining, varnishing and lacquering.
• Fabricate and install shelving, panels, skirting, trims, display stands and other custom joinery items.
• Maintain outdoor timber decking, pergolas, beach furniture and loungers, protecting them from salt, sun and humidity.
• Complete work orders and guest requests in the HotSOS maintenance system within agreed response times.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on rooms and villas as part of the planned maintenance programme.
• Support event set‑ups, stages, signage and décor installations for Banqueting and Events.
• Repair ceiling access panels, tiles, gypsum and minor partition works.

Required profile

• Technical or vocational certificate in carpentry, joinery or woodwork.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a carpenter, preferably in a 5‑star hotel or high‑end fit‑out.
• Basic spoken and written English; additional languages are an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.
• Experience operating woodworking machinery and applying finishing techniques.
• Ability to read basic drawings and take accurate measurements.
• Basic computer skills for updating work orders on a tablet or phone.
