Charge Nurse – Tower C6 Surgical Wing

About the role

The Charge Nurse for Tower C6 in the Surgical Wing oversees daily operations and ensures smooth patient flow within the unit. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the role combines clinical expertise with administrative coordination to maintain high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily schedules, staff assignments, and patient care activities to optimize unit efficiency.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs while adhering to ethical standards.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient‑ and family‑centered care.
• Monitor staffing levels, skill mix, and resource utilization to ensure a safe environment.
• Provide supervision, coaching, and constructive feedback to nursing and support staff.
• Administer medications and work with pharmacy services to meet unit medication needs.
• Respond to emergencies according to organizational policies.
• Facilitate communication among patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Coordinate referrals, discharge planning, and comprehensive handovers.
• Participate in patient care rounds and update providers on changes in condition.

Required profile

• Demonstrated competence in patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare systems and hospital operations.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse, multidisciplinary workforce.
• Commitment to ethical conduct, patient safety, and the mission, vision, and values of SSMC.
• Experience supervising staff and managing unit resources.
