Chemical Application Engineer

About the role

The Chemical Application Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and supervising chemical cleaning, flushing, passivation, pre‑commissioning, and mechanical cleaning activities for industrial and commercial systems. The role ensures safe and effective cleaning and commissioning of piping networks, HVAC systems, chilled water networks, district cooling plants, data centers, power generation facilities, and industrial process systems while complying with company procedures, customer specifications, and HSE requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and supervise chemical cleaning, flushing, passivation and mechanical cleaning projects for industrial and commercial systems.
• Review project specifications, P&IDs, method statements and conduct site surveys to assess system readiness.
• Supervise flushing operations for chilled water, condenser water, district cooling, HVAC, closed‑loop and industrial process piping.
• Monitor system parameters such as flow, pressure, pH, conductivity and chemical concentrations during cleaning.
• Develop flushing methodologies, select chemicals and equipment, and troubleshoot contamination or scaling issues.
• Operate and maintain flushing pumps, filtration units, dosing systems and monitoring instruments.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards, conduct risk assessments and lead safety briefings.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants and commissioning teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–7 years of experience in chemical cleaning, pre‑commissioning, flushing operations and water‑treatment applications.
• Experience with HVAC, district cooling, data‑center, power‑plant or other industrial facilities is preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of chemical cleaning and passivation chemistry.
• Understanding of water‑treatment principles and corrosion control.
• Ability to read P&IDs, isometric drawings and engineering documentation.
• Experience operating flushing pumps, filtration units and dosing systems.
• Familiarity with industry standards, HSE requirements and technical reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting.
