Chief Risk Officer (CRO) – Lead Enterprise Risk Management

About the role

Star Services, a leading bank in Abu Dhabi, is seeking an experienced Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to head its Enterprise Risk Management function. The CRO will ensure the bank’s risk framework complies with Central Bank of the UAE regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and continuously enhance the Bank's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
• Oversee Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Market & Liquidity Risk, and overall ERM functions.
• Monitor credit portfolio quality, concentration, delinquency trends, and Non‑Performing Loans (NPLs).
• Ensure compliance with CBUAE regulations, Basel III/IV, and internal risk policies.
• Lead stress testing, ICAAP, business continuity, disaster recovery, and recovery planning activities.
• Oversee third‑party and outsourcing risk assessments.
• Prepare and present comprehensive risk reports to Executive Management, the Board Risk Committee, and the Board of Directors.
• Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and enterprise‑wide risk assessments.
• Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders to strengthen governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Risk Management or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, CAMS, CIA, or ERM are highly desirable.
• Minimum 15 years of banking experience, including at least 5 years in a senior risk‑management leadership role.
• Strong experience with Basel III/IV, ERM frameworks, ICAAP, stress testing, and regulatory reporting.
• Proven experience working with the Central Bank of the UAE and other regulatory authorities.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, communication, negotiation, and Board‑level presentation skills.
