Chief Risk Officer

About the role

Freedom Finance MENAT is seeking an experienced risk leader to own the brokerage’s overall risk function. The role focuses on client trading exposures, margin lending and execution‑related risk, ensuring the firm’s risk‑taking aligns with regulatory obligations and board‑approved appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Design, maintain and continuously improve the risk governance framework, including policies, escalation procedures and committee structures.
• Chair the firm’s risk committee and provide timely, substantive reporting to senior management and the Board.
• Set, monitor and enforce exposure limits across client and proprietary trading books, covering margin and counter‑party risks.
• Lead scenario analysis and stress‑testing programmes for client positions, margin financing and market moves.
• Own internal capital and risk assessment processes, adapting them as the client base and product offering evolve.
• Serve as the primary liaison with UAE regulators (ADGM, DIFC) on risk‑related matters and reporting.
• Build, mentor and manage a team of risk officers covering multiple asset classes and client segments.
• Review new products, large client trades and margin arrangements for risk implications before approval.
• Oversee counter‑party and settlement risk arising from execution, clearing and custody relationships.
• Present risk positions, trends and emerging concerns to senior stakeholders through clear, decision‑ready reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management within a brokerage or financial services environment.
• Proven expertise in client trading exposures, margin lending and execution risk.
• Strong knowledge of UAE regulatory frameworks (ADGM, DIFC) and capital adequacy requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing risk teams.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with dealing desks, senior management, the Board and regulators.
