Civil Design Engineer – Substation & Power Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to join our Dubai HQ Design Hub, supporting high‑voltage substation and power infrastructure projects across the Middle East and Africa. The role involves delivering detailed civil designs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with regional utility standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop civil designs for HV/EHV substations, including site grading, roads, drainage, stormwater systems, and underground utilities.
• Design and review foundations and civil works for transformers, GIS/AIS equipment, control and switchgear buildings, gantries, cable trenches, and boundary walls.
• Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, detailed drawings, and BOQ/MTO documents.
• Coordinate with primary electrical, secondary electrical, structural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines within the Design Hub.
• Review vendor/sub‑contractor drawings, resolve design/interface issues, and support as‑built documentation for projects in the region.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of civil design experience, with hands‑on substation design mandatory.
• Proven experience in HV/EHV substation projects, covering equipment foundations, site layouts, roads, drainage, and underground utilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Ability to produce design calculations, technical specifications, and BOQ/MTO documentation.
• Familiarity with international engineering and design standards.
