Civil Site Engineer - Structural Design Review

About the role

Bureau Veritas is looking for a Civil Site Engineer in Abu Dhabi, reporting to the BNI Manager / DR Team Leader. The role covers site supervision of construction projects such as villas, compounds and mid- and high-rise buildings, and also involves design review and technical reporting for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor daily site activities and ensure work follows approved drawings, specifications, quality standards and project schedules
• Coordinate with project managers, consultants and other stakeholders, and monitor project progress
• Conduct site inspections, resolve technical issues and verify completed work for quality, supporting project handover
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations and coordinate material deliveries, equipment and manpower
• Carry out design review, technical audits and specialised studies, prepare technical reports and attend meetings with clients and authorities
• Support the team in structural design reviews, including foundations, soil excavations, concrete, precast and steel structures, and façade systems
• Take part in upstream commercial activities such as tender preparation and downstream project reporting

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering or post-graduate degree
• At least 8 years of experience in structural engineering (15 years for Senior Structural Engineer)
• Conversant with international codes and good technical reporting in English
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering standards and site supervision
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills

Required skills

• Structural design review using software such as AutoCAD
• Knowledge of standards such as BS, AISC, ACI, IBC and UBC
• MS Office and structural engineering software
• HSE compliance and ability to stop work when conditions are unsafe
