Clinic Support Assistant

About the role

The Clinic Support Assistant ensures clinical areas are ready for patient care and assists licensed healthcare professionals during examinations and treatments. The role combines patient‑direct support, equipment preparation, record management and adherence to safety and infection‑control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organise waiting and clinical areas for patient consultations and procedures.
• Provide non‑interventional assistance such as chaperoning, consumable set‑up and room turnover.
• When trained, perform basic patient‑care tasks including mobility assistance, bed making and personal hygiene under supervision.
• Sterilise and ready medical equipment according to NMC policy.
• Manage patient records, update information and ensure confidentiality.
• Schedule appointments, handle admissions/discharges and conduct follow‑up calls.
• Monitor and restock medical supplies inventory.
• Offer emotional support and clear communication to patients and families.
• Follow all safety, health, infection‑prevention and occupational health procedures.
• Escalate incidents using the reporting system and comply with regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Trained and competent to perform basic patient‑care tasks under supervision.
• Strong understanding of NMC, DOH/DHA/MOH policies and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Willingness to follow safety, infection‑control and occupational health guidelines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Basic computer literacy in a Windows operating environment.
• Effective email communication and document handling.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and use personal protective equipment.
