Coating & Painting Inspector (Level 1)

About the role

The Coating & Painting Inspector will be responsible for inspecting painting and coating works on offshore and onshore projects, ensuring compliance with international codes and client specifications. Reporting to the Team Leader, the role involves close interaction with project managers, technical managers and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve contractor painting, coating and wrapping procedures.
• Inspect surface profile, chloride contamination tests and monitor weather and equipment conditions during coating operations.
• Verify use of approved paint materials and adherence to technical data‑sheets and specifications.
• Check time intervals between coats, perform dry film thickness and holiday/pinhole detection using calibrated equipment.
• Monitor surface preparation, bonding agent application, elastomer wrapping and curing operations on riser pipes and clamps.
• Witness post‑curing tests such as hardness, spark, sound, adhesion, visual and dimensional checks.

Required profile

• Specialty certification: NACE, CSWIP or British Gas Painting Inspector Grade II (or equivalent).
• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or HNC.
• Site Safety Induction and Sea Survival Course for offshore sites.
• Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM, BS).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in painting/coating inspection.
