Commis 1 – Full-Time Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Commis to join the Food & Beverage team at Aloft Hotels in Dubai. The role involves preparing meals, maintaining kitchen standards and supporting the service staff in a fast‑paced hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals, substitute items and cold foods according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters and ensure proper food storage and thawing procedures.
• Maintain food logs, monitor portion sizes, garnish dishes and ensure overall food quality.
• Communicate with chefs and service staff about menu specials, out‑of‑stock items and excess food usage.
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling and coaching of junior staff as required.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, report incidents and maintain a clean, professional appearance.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree related to culinary arts.
• At least 3 years of relevant kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required skills

• Food preparation and cooking according to recipes.
• Operating kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, roasters).
• Food safety and hygiene practices.
