About the role

The Commis 1 – Main Kitchen supports the culinary team at JW Marriott, ensuring that all food preparation meets the hotel’s high quality and presentation standards. This full‑time, onsite position involves preparing special meals, managing temperature controls, and maintaining accurate food logs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters.
• Pull frozen items to thaw in refrigeration and manage portioning, arrangement and garnish.
• Maintain food logs and monitor quality and quantity of prepared food.
• Communicate assistance needs during busy periods and inform chefs of excess items for daily specials.
• Notify service staff of menu specials and out‑of‑stock items.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.
• Uphold professional appearance and protect confidential information.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school qualification in culinary arts or related field.
• At least 3 years (36 months) of relevant kitchen experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift up to 25 lb repeatedly.
• Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
