Commis 1 – Main Kitchen

About the role

The Main Kitchen Commis 1 supports the culinary team at JW Marriott Dubai by preparing high‑quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations during busy periods.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Thaw frozen items in refrigeration units and maintain accurate food logs.
• Monitor portion sizes, food arrangement, garnish, and overall quality.
• Communicate menu specials, out‑of‑stock items, and excess food to chefs and service staff.
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling and coaching of kitchen staff as needed.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a food‑and‑beverage or culinary environment.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to work long periods standing, lift up to 25 lb, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.
