Commis Chef – Hotel Kitchen

About the role

The Commis Chef will support the kitchen team in preparing high‑quality food while upholding Hyatt’s culinary standards, food safety and hygiene practices. You will work closely with the Chef de Partie and the wider culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present food items according to Hyatt standards, recipes and presentation guidelines.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of menu items, ingredients and preparation methods.
• Support daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow within the assigned section.
• Accommodate special guest requests while maintaining quality and operational standards.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation and HACCP standards in all food handling and preparation activities.
• Minimize food waste and contribute to departmental food cost objectives.
• Maintain workstations, kitchen equipment and storage areas in a clean, organized and sanitary condition.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Hospitality or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel, restaurant or hospitality environment is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexible to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
