Commis I – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis I supports the culinary team at Desert Islands Resort & Spa, ensuring smooth food preparation and service across all outlets. This entry‑level position is ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality and eager to develop their skills in a luxury hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare mise‑en‑place and assist in food preparation for restaurant, bar and banquet outlets.
• Follow Avani food preparation and presentation guidelines to maintain consistent quality.
• Keep all work areas clean, tidy and compliant with hygiene and food safety standards.
• Apply proper food handling techniques, including dating, storage, rotation and labeling.
• Support departmental training, checklists and cleaning schedules.
• Assist with events, banquets and other functions as required.
• Observe personal hygiene, grooming, fire safety and health & safety rules.
• Take responsibility for the care of hotel property and facilities.
