Commissioning Manager

About the role

The Commissioning Manager will lead all pre‑commissioning, commissioning, testing, energisation and hand‑over activities for a utility‑scale solar PV project in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will ensure safe, efficient delivery in line with client requirements, project specifications and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the overall commissioning strategy, procedures and schedules.
• Lead pre‑commissioning, commissioning, testing and energisation of PV modules, string combiner boxes, inverters, MV stations, transformers, switchgear, SCADA and communication systems.
• Coordinate activities with engineering, construction, QA/QC, HSE, procurement, subcontractors, vendors and the client.
• Manage system walk‑downs, punch‑lists, mechanical completion and system turnover.
• Review and approve commissioning documentation, test procedures and reports.
• Ensure compliance with IEC standards, local regulations and HSE requirements.
• Oversee grid compliance, performance, reliability and final acceptance testing.
• Mentor the commissioning team, subcontractors and vendor specialists.
• Support project close‑out and final hand‑over to the client.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (professional engineering certification is a plus).
• Minimum 10 years commissioning experience on utility‑scale solar PV or EPC power projects.
• At least 5 years in a Commissioning Manager or Lead Commissioning Engineer role.
• Proven experience with solar PV plants, substations and grid‑connection systems.
• Experience with international EPC contractors; GCC/UAE project experience is advantageous.
