Construction Manager - Substation

About the role

The Construction Manager will lead all construction activities for substation and electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, on‑schedule, and on‑budget delivery from mobilization through commissioning. This role oversees AIS/GIS substations, transformers, switchgear, and SCADA/automation systems in Sharjah.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise on‑site construction for new builds, upgrades, or retrofits of substations.
• Develop and maintain construction schedules, work sequences, and resource plans in coordination with planning teams.
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of AIS and GIS systems, transformers, switchgear panels, and protection equipment.
• Coordinate SCADA, RTU, and control system integration with automation teams.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards, IEC/IEEE specifications, and permit‑to‑work procedures.
• Manage subcontractors, monitor costs, and prepare progress reports for client review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory); Master’s or PMP certification is a plus.
• 10–12+ years of experience in electrical construction/project execution, specifically substation projects (132kV/220kV/400kV).
• Hands‑on experience with AIS and GIS substation construction and commissioning.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary site teams and manage stakeholder coordination.
