Consultant Fetal Medicine (Female)

About the role

The Consultant in Fetal Medicine will lead the diagnosis, management and care of complex fetal conditions and high‑risk pregnancies in a tertiary centre in Abu Dhabi. You will work closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, geneticists and other specialists to deliver optimal outcomes for mothers and babies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive fetal medicine services for high‑risk pregnancies and complex fetal anomalies.
• Perform detailed fetal assessments including anomaly scans, fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies and genetic testing.
• Carry out prenatal interventions such as fetal blood sampling, intra‑uterine transfusions and fetal shunt placement.
• Offer compassionate counselling to patients and families regarding diagnoses, prognosis and treatment options.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure effective communication within multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in research, publications, quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.
• Mentor junior doctors, sonographers and allied health staff.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MD) from an accredited institution.
• Specialist qualification in Fetal Medicine and Board Certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in fetal medicine, preferably in a tertiary hospital.
• Eligibility for DOH/HAAD consultant‑level licence.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
