Consultant Neurosurgeon – Functional Neurosurgery (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon with a focus on functional neurosurgery to join a multidisciplinary neuroscience team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will lead the evaluation, surgical management and long‑term follow‑up of patients requiring advanced neuromodulation and stereotactic procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose patients with movement disorders, epilepsy, chronic pain, spasticity and other conditions that may benefit from functional neurosurgery.
• Perform Deep Brain Stimulation, lesioning, spinal cord stimulation, vagus nerve stimulation and related neuromodulation therapies.
• Conduct pre‑operative assessments, multidisciplinary case discussions and intra‑operative planning using neuronavigation and image‑guided techniques.
• Provide post‑operative care, monitor outcomes and manage complications.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, case conferences and departmental meetings.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and operative reports.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents and fellows.
• Contribute to research, publications and academic teaching.

Required profile

• Board‑certified neurosurgeon with extensive experience (minimum 8 years) in functional neurosurgery.
• Proven track record of performing DBS and other neuromodulation procedures.
• Strong collaborative skills to work with neurologists, neurophysiologists, neuroradiologists and rehabilitation teams.
• Commitment to patient‑centered, evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement.
