Consultant Ophthalmologist (Reconstructive)

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist with a focus on reconstructive and oculoplastic surgery to join a leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The role involves diagnosing complex peri‑ocular conditions, performing advanced surgical procedures, and delivering patient‑centred eye care in line with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage ophthalmic and peri‑ocular disorders requiring reconstructive or oculoplastic intervention.
• Perform reconstructive surgeries such as eyelid reconstruction, lacrimal system procedures, orbital surgeries, trauma reconstruction and functional eyelid surgeries.
• Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology consultations.
• Collaborate with ENT, maxillofacial, plastic surgery, oncology and other multidisciplinary teams for complex cases.
• Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with DOH regulations.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects, research, audits and continuous medical education.
• Counsel patients and families on treatment plans, surgical procedures and postoperative care.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree recognised by the Abu Dhabi DOH.
• Board certification or fellowship in Ophthalmology with subspecialty training in Oculoplastic/Reconstructive Ophthalmology.
• Valid DOH Consultant licence or eligibility letter in Ophthalmology.
• 5–7 years of post‑specialist experience in reconstructive ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery.
• Strong communication and patient‑management abilities.
